Graham Bell Centre for the Deaf (GBCD) is an NGO was established in 1991 aimed at mainstreaming the children & persons with Disability. GBCD always look forward to mainstream the PWDs within their own community and to build up their capacity & confidence so that they can be the productive members of the society and can lead their life with dignity. Our focusing areas are creating mass sensitization on Disability, their Rights and entitlements, ensuring Education, capacity building training, Life skills support and empowerment of the Disabled persons, creating scope for Livelihood opportunities. We are also running audio logical assessment clinic, physiotherapy clinic, Mental Health Clinic and speech therapy. Still Date we have impacted the ………lives of people with disability.
GBCD made a choice of working through CBR Approach (Community Based Rehabilitation) considering the community need in rural areas. Through this approach we have master the art of combining play way method and skill transfer methods to achieve the best learning outcomes. Our training & Camp for the beneficiaries, parents and other stakeholders also features Audio-Visual equipment that facilitates learning more effectively. Our endeavor is to encourage children in picking concept on different subjects through practical demonstration, showing real objects & role play. To eradicate the curse of unemployment of the PWDs GBCD’s effort is to impart capacity building training and to sensitize through counseling and motivating the PWDs, their family members, Employers and other stakeholders to create scope for employment opportunities in different field.
